Create & Inspire!

皇冠体育官网's art program is designed to help students reach their full creative potential using a wide variety of media for self-expression. Students begin in 3K, exploring a range of media, and continue growing throughout elementary, middle, and high school. High school students can select from several honors as well as three AP art classes. 皇冠体育官网's art program is renowned as the top art program in Middle Georgia, winning multiple annual awards.

Elementary Art

Move over crafty creations! In the 皇冠体育官网 elementary art program, students learn to use a variety of media and explore famous works of art and artists in order to gain a better understanding of the process of making and creating art. Children learn that God is first and foremost the greatest artist. We are made in His image and are born with the desire to create.

Children explore their inner creativity while taking on exciting and challenging art projects that are all sent home at the end of each school year. This portfolio of work is a treasure for not only the students but for the parents as well!

Middle School Art

The 皇冠体育官网 middle school art program explores different cultures and historical periods through painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture.  Students learn more about themselves and others through art exploration. They realize that God has given us all special talents, it is their job to explore their talents and use them for God’s glory. We explore this through art production, art criticism, art history, and art appreciation.

High School Art

The Art 1 beginner class teaches students basic drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture techniques, as well as three-dimensional design processes. In Art II & III, students focus on technical drawing skills, color theory, and spatial engagement. Students also begin to find their own personal voices and styles.

In 皇冠体育官网’s ceramics class, students learn the four basic methods of construction.  They then create both functional and sculptural works of art.

Finally, in 皇冠体育官网’s photography class, students work with light and dark, learn studio and darkroom techniques, digital camera photography, and beginner Photoshop.

AP Art

Advanced Placement Art is available to the more serious art student. AP art students can earn college credit by passing the AP exam, which is portfolio-based. Students submit a cohesive body of work in the spring to the College Board for grading.  This portfolio must demonstrate a specific conceptual and technical idea.

Art for Casa Hogar

When instructed to pick a focus for her AP Art Portfolio, Olsen Kate Jones '18 knew exactly what she wanted it to be – the kids of the Casa Hogar orphanage in Mexico. That focus turned into an outreach. Olsen Kate decided to auction off her paintings at the Missions Conference at First Presbyterian Church, the proceeds going to her beloved Casa Hogar. By the end of the conference, Olsen Kate’s four beautiful paintings brought in $1400 for the Mexican mission.

Empty Bowls

Taking place during an annual 皇冠体育官网 basketball game, Empty Bowls is a special annual event that raises money for local agencies that care for Macon’s homeless population.
During the event, parents and students are invited to shop a collection of student-made plates, bowls, vases, and other pieces of pottery. Proceeds benefit the local food bank.
